Stand up for Southville

Southville’s high street, North Street, from El Rincon & the Tobacco Factory to the Hen & Chicken’s “Comedy Box” is the heart and soul of Southville, and what an amazing heart and soul too.

There is an application in (well, two actually, that are being entwined, but that’s another story!) for a superstore to be built on the grounds of the Bristol City football stadium and many, many people locally are involved in a campaign to protest this unnecessary, counter-productive and nonsensical ‘development’ in this area.

Here at The Natural Building Store, just off North Street, we think it’s time to build on this activity and turn it into a positive groundswell of support and appreciation for Southville, and to celebrate everything we have. If we do that, then North Street won’t be losing any custom to a superstore, and we can continue to evolve our amazing, modern ‘urban village’ – we have a theatre and first class comedy either end of our high street, and a full range of fresh goods shops and practical outlets in between. They will only go if we go, so let’s stay and keep on building our community.
